Quantum Spatial is seeking a GIS Technician to work onsite at a government facility in Fort Belvoir, VA. This position will work to aid in supporting general data production, map making and QA/QC efforts across multiple disciplines for a federal client. The technician must be self-motivated with exceptional planning, critical thinking, analytical and communication skills. This position will work both individually and as part of a team to support data production in an ArcGIS and CADD environment.

The technician must be self-motivated with exceptional planning, critical thinking, analytical and communication skills. This position will work both individually and as part of a team to support data production in an ArcGIS and CADD environment.
Responsibilities
• Digitizes information and creates, maintains, updates, queries and views GIS data to provide easier access and retrieval of processed information on multiple databases to support valid statistical analysis and accurate mapping
• Develops GIS data layers and databases utilizing coordinate geometry and graphics to correspond with the information on design drawings, maps, plans and reports and prepares and maintains metadata for specific spatial data layers and databases.
• Produces cartographic products
• Enters delineated map and descriptive information into the GIS through digitizing, key entry or other standard map data entry procedures
• Import GIS and CADD data and developing, analyzing, manipulating, extracting and importing of data to meet client requirements.
• Writes technical articles and standard operating procedures
• Performs quality assurance/quality control methods to ensure a high degree of data consistency, integrity, and accuracy.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested
• Travel required; 8-10 times per year

Minimum Qualifications
• Degree Requirements: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major work in, geography, engineering, planning, computer science or a related field
• Experience developing and maintaining Spatial Data in Standard for Installations & the Environment (SDSFIE).
• Experience using GPS equipment
• 3-5 year’s experience using GIS/CADD Software
