PhD en planificación de recursos naturales

The Urban Research Program (URP) at Griffith University is at the forefront of Australia’s research effort to improve our understanding of urbanisation and urban questions, in their full historical, economic, social, environmental and institutional contexts. Our multi-disciplinary research produces new knowledge for policy, and regulatory and community frameworks that seek to manage change and engender equitable and sustainable urban development. South-East Queensland is Australia’s fastest growing urban region, and with locations on both Brisbane and the Gold Coast campuses of Griffith University, the URP is well placed to offer urban researchers a unique research perspective.

Eligibility
The URP is seeking a high achieving PhD applicant to undertake research studies in natural resource planning and governance in Queensland’s Western Downs and the Great Barrier Reef. The candidate will work with a team of researchers as part of a recently funded Australian Research Council (ARC) Linkage Project. The successful applicant will require first class honours in a discipline related to this topic (including a research component equating to one full time semester of study), or equivalent research experience. Publication in refereed international journals would be highly desirable.

Remuneration
The scholarship package will be awarded on a competitive basis and includes an annual living allowance of AUD $24,653 (2013 rate, indexed annually) and $1,000 on commencement of PhD. Students can apply for additional funds up to AUD $6,500 for conference attendance and research expenses following confirmation. The successful applicant will be further awarded a once off top-up scholarship of $5,000.
